Next CAC Monthly Meeting:
Saturday, November 16, 10:00 am - 12:30 p.m.
Easter Seals School and Center for Autism Research
1939 West 13th Street, Chicago
We have two presenters this month, the first of whom is Angela Duffy, Visiting Research Specialist at the Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays (RCADD). These two sites, at 10 S. Kedzie on the West Side and 4314 S. Cottage Grove on the South Side, are hidden jewels for parents/caregivers and educators and other autism professionals. Each hosts a lending library with free materials to check out for use at home or school. Resources include books, software, games, home teaching kits, and visual supports. They provide referral information and basic case management necessary to link families and providers to relevant services, resources, and training. And they offer training opportunities specific to the needs of those teaching, serving, or caring for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
Our second presenter is Sheritta Rochea Bowling, known as "Roche', Single Mom on the Rise". Roche' is the star and director of the internet television show "Reinventing Roche'" in which she chronicles her hectic life as an entertainer and the single mother of a young son with autism. Come listen to her share her trials and triumphs, her struggles and her victories, her pain and joy, as she balances parenting and her career. She is an advocate for all special needs children and speaks out against domestic violence. You have got to witness her incredible story.
