Don't miss the meeting on Saturday! This month we have "100 pounds of information packed into a 50 pound bag". Once again we have an impressive array of speakers lined up.
Ollie Woods is the father of a teen-aged boy with autism who is committed to assisting other parents who have loved ones with autism. He and Shettima Webb will discuss their latest project, "Heroes of Life", a free program on April 26th for families.
Jocelyn Carroll and Alice Smith are community outreach coordinators for Community Care Alliance. They will be talking about the new Medicaid mandate. This is of particular interest to families who have a loved one who is Medicaid eligible or may soon be. Medicaid is moving to an Integrated Care Program and participants must choose from a defined list of health plans.
Maurice Snell is well known in the autism community. He is a 30 year old living with autism who has graduated from college and is employed as the Development Coordinator of Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago Central Office. His mother Jennifer Snell is a retired Chicago Public Schools teacher who serves as the coordinator of Parents Talk Autism (PTA). Come and hear the inspiring stories of these two terrific people.

Autism Community News, Questions and Comments
Free respite care for children with autism is provided by professionally trained staff. However, ADVANCE RESERVATIONS are required. Send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, April 17. Include your name and the name and age of your loved one with autism. We limit respite care size to 20 to ensure safety and personalized care.

Congratulations to Wanda Bethel Satkas on her selection as the "State of Illinois Interagency Committee on Employees with Disabilities' 2013 Advocate of the Year". Wanda, co-founder of CAC and for many years the CEO, was recognized at a ceremony in Springfield this past May. Additionally, Wanda is among a group who will be honored by Creativity United at the "We Dream in Color" event on Sunday, July 21st at the DuSable Museum. This program celebrates individuals who have learned to embrace their color to enhance the lives of others. There will be food and a roster of tremendous entertainers.
